Who We Are

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

When we sit down with a family, we have just one goal: to create a fitting, memorable and affordable service for their loved one. Together, we explore the wide variety of services and products available, as well as a wealth of creative ideas and suggestions.

Together, we'll design a memorial or funeral service that suits their needs now, and in the future. Families who come to us know that years from now, they will have deep peace-of-mind because in coming to us, they've done their best to honor their loved one.

  • Our History

The Spring Grove Funeral Chapel is a relatively new firm. The facility was built in 1998, and I purchased it in 2002. There are two things that make Spring Grove completely unique. The first thing is our beautiful open air chapel, where you can honor the life of your loved one surrounded by the splendor of the natural world.

The second unique element has to do with me, personally. You will read in my short biography below of my dedication to funeral service, and my willingness to take that "extra step" to ensure your loved one is cared for in the way you wish. I am deeply committed to excellence in service and treat everyone who walks through the door as compassionately and courteously as possible.

I’ve been a funeral service professional since 1994. I graduated in 1981 from Dwight David Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois. Four years later, in 1985, I graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a minor in Business Management. I’m pleased to be a graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science, having received my degree in 1994.

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated by the funeral industry. When I became old enough to actually inquire about becoming a funeral director, I was given the wrong information, which led me to pursue a career in teaching.

Unhappy, I searched high and low for a career that would satisfy my need to be in a service-oriented position, where nothing was the same day-to-day. I had the great fortune of meeting a woman who was a student in a local mortuary college. After a very intense conversation with her, I sought out the school in question, applied and left the world of education behind forever. From that very moment, I never looked back; I knew I was on the path I had been meant to travel all along.

The day I graduated Worsham College, I started working for a family-owned firm. After eight years of learning all I could there, I decided to strike out on my own. I purchased the Spring Grove Funeral Chapel in August of 2002. Today my wife and I, and our three children, live at the funeral home in this small rural community. We are delighted to be here, and to serve our neighbors in this way.

I have been involved in the local Parent-Teachers Organization, the Knights of Columbus, and the Kiwanis. I’ve served on Fourth of July Committee and the Economic Development Committee for our village. I am a member in good standing, and involved in the activities of the McHenry County Funeral Directors Association, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

You can be truly comfortable calling upon the Spring Grove Funeral Chapel, because you’re not going to be dealing with a large, impersonal corporate staff. Instead, you’ll be connecting with me, and I recognize the deep pain of your loss. My professional training, tempered by personal experience, allows me to listen closely to your stories, provide information when I see the need, and help you to arrive at decisions you can be pleased with for years to come.
